What a decode looks like

Synthetic example. Every note points at the exact line it is about.

Sample delay notice · Northgate Air (synthetic)
  1. Flight NG 482, Toronto (YYZ) to Vancouver (YVR), 14 June
  2. Scheduled arrival 11:05 · Actual arrival 15:40
  3. Reason for delay: operational reasons
  4. Meal vouchers of C$15 were issued at the gate.
  5. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Why this is hard

  • The airline's email is vague

"Operational reasons" doesn't tell you whether the delay was within the airline's control, which is what rules like APPR turn on.

  • Claim services take a cut

Some compensation services keep 35% to 50% of any payment for a letter you could send yourself.

  • The rules depend on details

Airline size, delay at arrival, the cause and the route all matter, and the official guidance is spread across several pages.

What you get

  • What the airline's notice says, in plain English, quoted line by line
  • Which rules may apply, such as Canada's APPR or EU261 for flights from Europe, and what each one depends on
  • An editable claim letter that cites your flight details and asks for the specific cause
  • Where to go if the airline doesn't reply, such as the Canadian Transportation Agency

What it is not

An explanation of your documents plus an editable letter template. It doesn't decide whether you're owed anything, doesn't contact the airline for you, and isn't legal advice.

Credit packs from $4.99 for 5 credits (plus applicable sales tax).

Questions

Will I get compensation?

We can't say, and no one can before the airline answers. Rules like APPR or EU261 may apply depending on the route, the airline, the delay at arrival and the cause. We explain those conditions and give you a letter to ask.

Why not just ask ChatGPT?

You can, and it will explain the rules in general. What we add is a fixed structure: your notice quoted line by line, the conditions that decide whether the rules may apply, and a letter that cites your own flight details. There's no prompt to write, and uploaded files are deleted within 24 hours unless you choose to save them. Whether that's worth 1 credit is what we're asking before we build it.

Do you take a share of any payment?

No. You'd pay 1 credit for the explanation and letter. You send the letter yourself, so anything the airline pays goes to you.
